Overnight Oats, Four Ways Recipe
Breakfast is the meal where a decision costs the most, because it happens at the hour with the least patience. Overnight oats move that decision to the evening.
Equipment
- Glass mason jars or bowls with lids
- Measuring spoons
Ingredients
Instructions
- Put the oats, milk and yoghurt in a jar or bowl and stir.
- Add your flavour (below), stir again, cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Eat cold, straight from the fridge. It keeps for three days.
Four flavours
Apple and cinnamon. Half a grated apple and a good pinch of cinnamon.
Banana and peanut butter. Half a mashed banana and a heaped teaspoon of smooth peanut butter.
Berry. A handful of frozen berries, added straight from the freezer — they defrost overnight and colour the whole jar.
Cocoa. A teaspoon of cocoa and a teaspoon of maple syrup.
Notes
- Make three jars at once on a Sunday and breakfast is handled to Wednesday. If you are introducing nut butters to a young child, follow current guidance from your health visitor or doctor rather than a recipe.
